Windmill Community Church
Windmill Community Church (previously called St Thomas's Church) is a fine old building which had fallen into a state of decay and has now been restored.
On Saturday 17th November 2018 the church held a Community Open Day and over 200 people came along to the little church to see how the building has been upgraded and to enjoy refreshments.
Members of Windmill Community Church provided funds to acquire the building and also donated additional funds towards the building works. The balance of funds came from grants and some donations from the community. Terry and Margaret Wilkes project managed the works.
In addition to the 10.30am Sunday Services, weekly Home Groups and Ladies' and Men's groups, a number of new activites will start in 2018. These include a programme for mixed lonely Seniors, Little Windmill Toddlers, Youth work, Young Mums, Schools work, Alpha courses and Parenting Courses for the disadvantaged. From the 3rd to 21st December the church will be open each week day from 9am to 12 noon so the community can call in for coffee. This facility will continue on selected mornings, to be announced, during 2019. Heather Rouse will be inviting members of FCCA to meet as a Friendship Group at the church on a regular basis in the New Year. Once these activities are established we shall provide a Neighbourhood Chaplaincy Service for members of the community who would like a visit and we may introduce an evening Worship Service. Windmill Community Church is a registered Charity and the Trustees and Elders extend a warm welcome to members of the community.
During its restoration Eleanor Smith MP visited to view the ongoing work.
