Latest: FCA are now launching an appeal for funds to go towards the costs needed to get to the point when we can purchase the building.
It was great to meet so many more people interested in the future of the St Thomas Church building on Sat 5th Oct 11 - 1pm and Sun 6th Oct 2-4pm when we held another Community Viewing Session. Thanks to Heather, Ray, Kevin and others who organised and welcome everyone.
Please contact us via the "Contact FCA" as we want to hear your ideas and views!
Following the opening of St Thomas Church building on the Finchfield Community Day there was a great feeling of optimism that as a community we could reclaim and restore the lovely St Thomas’s Church Building to become a community asset with a range of ideas as “St Thomas Church Community Centre and Community Garden” with opportunities to do a whole range of activities.
A meeting was held with the group of remaining members of the original St Thomas Church congregation on Sun 8th Sept and it was agreed to go ahead and set up the “Friends of St Thomas’s Church” to explore ways that the members of the Finchfield and wider community can work towards reclaiming, restoring and developing the building and site to become a Centre for a variety of community uses. The members of the Congregation would like this development to be called the “St. Thomas Church Community Centre".
How can you help?
Register as a "Friend of St Thomas Church" ie giving support and solidarity to the proposal to restore the building for community use
become a “Benefactor of St Thomas Church Restoration” ie those making a significant donation to the purchase and restoration fund
sign up as a “Volunteer for St Thomas Church Restoration”– ie people who will work on the fund finding / fundraising activities, clear land, and undertake other tasks eg giving professional skills and advice.

We are also looking for people to take an active role in the “Friends of St Thomas Church Steering Group”. We would like to ask you to write a letter or send an email for initial consideration including what you feel your contribution could be, as we want to try to get an appropriate skill/experience balance on the Steering Group.
